I recently bought a mac and am having issues with file permissions. When I download a file from the internet the permissions for the 'everyone' user are set to 'no access'. This is causing issues for me when trying to add them to a website or view them in the browser. Essential Mac Apps for Students. Students: Have a Mac, iPhone or iPad? Don't miss these essential apps for homework, organization, note taking, communication, budgeting and even avoiding.
Jul 06, 2011 I used to work with MS Access in Windows, yet moved to a mac a year ago and bought the office software. As I now would like to buy MS Access to help me manage a small database, I was wondering about whether this is possible as I did not find and MS Access software for macs on the web (or may not have looked sufficiently). Dec 10, 2005 I am wondering what your thoughts are on how PC’s stack up against Mac’s for early education. I know that Mac’s are in many schools but I do not know what the “big” differentiators are for Mac’s that make them well or better suited for early education. Uninstalling an app on a Mac is so easy, you might not even realize how to do it: just drag the app’s icon from the Applications folder into the trash. But what about applications that don’t have shortcuts, built-in system apps, and other corner cases?
Developers are doing
great things with Swift.
Swift is a fast and efficient language that provides real-time feedback and can be seamlessly incorporated into existing Objective-C code. So developers are able to write safer, more reliable code, save time, and create even richer app experiences.
Great apps
built using Swift.
More and more developers are incorporating Swift code into their apps. And some are even building all-new apps entirely in Swift.
Better performance
equals better apps.
Swift apps more than live up to the name. For instance, a common search algorithm completes much faster using Swift.

Educators are adding Swift
to their curriculum.
Developers aren’t the only ones who’ve noticed the potential of Swift. Universities and academic institutions are teaching Swift in their computer programming courses and offering free courses on iTunes U. Which means the transition from introductory coding to professional programming has never been easier.

Swift is free and open source, and it’s available to a wide audience of developers, educators, and students under the Apache 2.0 open source license. We’re providing binaries for macOS and Linux that can compile code for iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and Linux. And to help Swift grow into an even more powerful language, we created a community where users can contribute directly to the Swift source code.
